Normally, performance of a given sector justifies a continued policy support. While pastoral areas of the Horn of Africa have potentially significant contribution to the socio-economic life of the people of the region, having proper policy support is always a challenge. The dominant views among the scholars and practitioners are that state development policies and strategies in the pastoral areas of the Horn of Africa have less and negative role. This book explores and synthesizes the lessons learned in the approaches of state development policies and strategies in the pastoral areas of the region.
