Mauritania becomes the 27th country, and first country in the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), to sign the The New Partnership for Africa’s Development’s (NEPAD) Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) Compact, committing to a 10 percent investment in agriculture for a growth of 6% in gross domestic product (GDP) each year. The CAADP roundtable discussion, ending in the signing of the Compact, was organised by the Government of Mauritania. It was poised as a unified approach to establish commitments in partnership and investments for the improvement of food security and to have positive impact on the country’s economy.
