Brief presentation

SOS FAIM is a Belgian NGO created in 1964. SOS FAIM contributes, in relation with farmers' movements and other citizen movements, to processes of social change fighting against food and nutritional insecurity. SOS Faim promotes and defends sustainable family farming and contributes to the emergence of a global citizenship for a fairer world in the respect of future generations.

Missions
  • Support for producer organizations through technical, organizational and financial assistance, networking, support for representativeness and recognition, in order to defend food security, a better nutritional balance and a decent income for small family producers.
  • Accompanying rural finance institutions through technical, organizational and financial support.
  • Participation in the creation of financial institutions with a social purpose to allow equitable and sustainable access to financial means in rural areas.
  • Involvement in thematic networks for North-South reflection and action on family farming, sustainable development, local development, micro-finance, social economy and solidarity finance.
  • The construction of a citizenship oriented towards international solidarity through a better knowledge of the issues and a critical analysis.
  • The recognition by politicians and future decision-makers of the relevance of an agricultural system based on sustainable and equitable family farming.
  • Capitalization, sharing and discussion of knowledge and practices between cooperation actors.
Areas of intervention

SOS Faim has more than 50 partners in 9 countries.
In Africa: Burkina Faso, Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Mali, Niger and Senegal
In Latin America: Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru.
SOS Faim also carries out information, awareness and mobilization actions in Belgium.
