In this article, IFPRI looks at value chains in food systems and, more specifically, the data collected from them. The research institute is proposing a new data collection methodology that moves away from stylised views of value chains and focuses more on their complexity. Four value chains in two countries were studied (rice and potatoes in Bangladesh, arabica coffee and soya in Uganda).
In addition to IFPRI’s methodological explanations, you will find a graph showing when the various players in the value chain are involved.
