The Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS) and Africa Lead Project co-organized a regional workshop on April 11 – 13, 2012 at Nairobi to provide capacity support for the establishment of country Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support Systems (SAKSS) in support of CAADP implementation.
The workshop on Strengthening Capacity for Strategic Agricultural Policy and Investment Planning and Implementation in Africa brought together more than 30 country and regional stakeholders from Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, Mozambique, Malawi, Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, South Africa, Zambia and the United States, who represented various institutions including government ministries, research institutes, universities, NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
The Nairobi workshop was the first of a series of capacity strengthening activities planned by ReSAKSS this year. The 3-day workshop provided technical trainings on CAADP agenda, SAKSS concepts, methods of capacity needs assessment, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, agricultural policy analysis and knowledge management tools. It was also used as a platform to launch the capacity needs assessment work at country level.
