It is important and useful for experts and decision-makers around the world to have an idea, even a rough estimate, of the amount of investment required globally to reconfigure food systems for resilience and sustainability in the face of climate change. This article has the merit of raising the debate by taking as a reference the data from a report published in 2020 which had identified eleven actions necessary to reconfigure food. All for an annual implementation cost estimated at USD 1.3 ± 0.1 trillion integrating a series of priorities such as the protection of biodiversity, financing of climate change adaptation policies and innovation. In any case, the costs of inaction will far outweigh the benefits, the report warns.
