The World Bank is concerned about the state of food insecurity. In a recent update of its data, the institution points to the galloping inflation of foodstuffs in many countries around the world. In real terms, the report said, « food price inflation exceeded overall inflation in 73% of the 165 countries for which data is available. » Naturally, the situation remains even more precarious in areas affected by armed conflicts as is the case in certain regions of eastern and southern Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
