The World Bank is concerned about the state of food insecurity. In a recent update of its data, the institution points to the galloping inflation of foodstuffs in many countries around the world. In real terms, the report said, “food price inflation exceeded overall inflation in 73% of the 165 countries for which data is available.” Naturally, the situation remains even more precarious in areas affected by armed conflicts as is the case in certain regions of eastern and southern Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
