Damaging wildfires that have ravaged many parts of the world in recent years have prompted an increase in the demand for technical support for integrated fire management. As part of this response, FAO and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) established the Global Fire Management Centre (Fire Hub) in 2023 to strengthen countries’ capacity to implement integrated fire management and reduce the negative impacts of wildfires on people, landscapes and global climate. To achieve this goal, the Fire Hub has published in 2024, and for the second edition, a document entitled “Voluntary Guidelines for Integrated Fire Management”.
