Accéder à la ressource

To increase the effectiveness of the European development cooperation policy, this site aim to place policy coherence for development and to avoid european policies that negatively affect developing countries. Several studies are available, for instance a study on the cotton sector. Also available: fisheries products, sugar. The cotton sector is very important for many developing countries, notably in West Africa. It is the main export product of this region. This makes cotton the main source of income for many West Africans, but the profits of the cotton farmers have been under pressure for years due to the low world market price. The European Union (EU) is also to blame for keeping down the world market price and consequently the income of cotton farmers in developing countries.
