Big players in the private sector (multinationals and philanthropic foundations) are playing more and more of a role in food and nutrition security in Africa. With economic clout and support from public authorities, these players are helping define public policies and influencing governance structures and development models. They are renowned for their capacity to invest and transform agriculture in Africa, but their influence over agricultural and food governance raises questions. The debate is particularly heated.
