Why and How did you become the President of the GRIB?
I contested for the position of President of the GRIB because I knew I had the potential to lead the GRIB and perform effectively and efficiently.
My campaign message was simple:
i) I am a big time broker in the industry; ii) I had operated for three years at that time iii) I have the right contacts both in Government and the private financial sector
What is your role as the President of the GRIB?
My role as the president is to organize and chair all executive meetings as well as General meetings and to serve as a liaison between our donors and Government as well as overseeing to the day to day administration of the GRIB Another role is to ensure equitable distribution of wealth among all stakeholders through sharing of profit. This will ensure that all stakeholders stay in the business with attractive profits.
What is your objectives, as the President, for the GRIB?
As the President of the GRIB, I see a clear opportunity to use my contacts to get it well established. I specifically intend during my mandate to:
i) set up the rice development fund ii) set up a national stock for locally produced rice by providing a credit line for brokers (at prime interest rate) to lift rice from farmers at harvest iii) create other investments to make more revenues for the GRIB as we did this year with the purchase of a colour sorter iv) create new marketing channels for brokers so the urban consumers could easily buy local rice of good quality and at a competitive price. Finally, one of my key objectives is to make the GRIB less dependent on Government. That way we can dialogue with Governmen
