The Groupe de Réalisations et d'Accompagnement pour le Développement is an association present in France and Switzerland, which has been working in French-speaking Europe and in a dozen West African countries for more than 40 years to "Bring the peasant's word" within the Peasant Organizations (PO), between them, but also towards the outside.
Indeed, GRAD affirms the central role of peasants in the construction of a fairer world.
These Farmers' Organizations (FOs) that resist, innovate and take a fundamental role in defining and implementing new policies, in particular for :

  • the world's food,
  • the distribution of wealth
  • the rational use of natural resources

Missions

GRAD:
1. Communicating for "Other Developments
GRAD makes extensive and regular use of Information and Communication Technologies to promote exchanges between individuals, groups and West African Peasant Organizations.
GRAD's objective is to strengthen knowledge and skills and to promote partnerships between actors from the South and the North.
Through a broad, regular and continuous monitoring of the web, it processes and disseminates - via some twenty different presences on social networks - information and knowledge targeted at 75,000 different actors in African rural development.

2. Accompanies and advises Farmers' Organizations
GRAD creates alliances with West African farmers' organizations, and sometimes with associations from the North, in order to accompany and advise them on "Communication for Other Developments".

It helps farmers to better understand their constraints and their potential, in order to act, within the structures of which they are members, to make their voices heard and to have more impact on policies and behaviors in the South as in the North.

3. Publishes and distributes publications for various audiences
GRAD produces, publishes and distributes information and reflection tools (on different media: paper, digital, e'medias, ...) aiming at educating young people, raising awareness of the general public and sharing experiences between development actors.
It seeks to accelerate awareness of the challenges of sustainable development and the vital role played by farmers' organizations.
It strives to make accessible to all the research, experiences and testimonies of rural actors in the South and their allies.
