In collaboration with ‘the initiative prospective agricole et et rurale’ (IPAR) located in Dakar, Senegal, FAO is organizing a consultation workshop on Market-oriented Agricultural Advisory services (MOAAS) from 22 to 24 October 2012 in Dakar, Senegal which will involve farmer organizations, government representatives with a focus on MOAAS.
Agricultural extension nowadays, has taken on new roles not only concerning technology transfer but how to support and encourage farm commercialization and enterprise diversification. It is indeed important to shed some light on the change that are occurring in advisory services provision and inform all actors involved from policy makers to senior technical staff of public sector extension agencies and other MOAAS providers as well as farmers organizations.
The workshop will also provide an opportunity for sharing information and innovative MOAAS experiences that hopefully would lead to the identification of action required and of FAO support as needed.
