The study led to the analysis of the past and current status of the Agricultural technical and vocational education and training (ATVET) system in Nigeria,in order to bring out its strengths and weaknesses, the opportunities that are open to it as well as the threats that the system faces within the present and prospective context of agricultural development in Nigeria.

The study revealedthat the Nigerian population is youthful and is growing at a very rapid rate (about 2.6%) and that youth unemployment was also growing at a similarly high rate. Growth in food production is however not in pace with the growing population and if some strong actions are not taken, the problems of food security and safety in Nigeria may become critical.

The study recommended that a program be created and charged with the implementation of the ATVET renovation process, under the close supervision of competent Ministries, Departments and Agencies
