En juin 2005, a été organisée à Bamako la Conférence ministérielle des pays de l’espace CEDEAO sur la biotechnologie. Ibrahima Coulibaly a assisté à cette conférence où il représentait le Réseau des organisations paysannes et des producteurs agricoles de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (ROPPA) : « Nous ne refusons pas le progrès. Mais les enjeux sont bien différents entre OGM et biotechnologies. Ceux qui veulent imposer les OGM créent volontairement la confusion entre le terme OGM et le terme plus général de biotechnologie.
