This background paper examines the agricultural and trade policies used by successful developing countries during industrialisation to assess their potential value for use in less-developed countries today. It focuses on six different developing countries, each of which each of which stand out amongst developing countries as having enjoyed unusually high rates of economic growth and development: South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Chile and Botswana.
