Knowledge management for agricultural innovation: lessons from networking efforts in the Bolivian Agricultural Technology System

Many small farmers in Bolivia continue to depend on semi-subsistence farming systems characterized by insufficient use of improved local and advanced knowledge and technology, and low levels of productivity. This is despite the continuous efforts of research, extension and development programmes to promote the generation and use of new knowledge in agricultural production and value added. An often considered reason for this dilemma is obstacles in the communication and management of knowledge.
