The Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS) and Africa Lead Project co-organized a regional workshop on April 11 – 13, 2012 at Nairobi to provide capacity support for the establishment of country Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support Systems (SAKSS) in support of CAADP implementation.

When the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) was established by the African Union assembly in 2003, African countries had a clear goal in mind : to eliminate hunger, reduce poverty and increase food security through agricultural investment and growth. To achieve this goal, African leaders committed to allocate a minimum of 10% of the national budgets to the agriculture sector and to raise agricultural growth to at least 6% per year.

The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) hosted a consultative meeting earlier this month to address the problem of volatile and soaring food prices in West Africa.
