Vice President John Dramani Mahama last Saturday served notice that government will in the near future review taxes and duties that were taken off some food imports in order to allow local farmers to compete.
The government is to increase the budgetary allocation for agriculture from the current six per cent to 10 percent to help alleviate poverty and enable the country to be a net exporter of food in the near future.
Members of Parliament have approved a $6 million loan agreement between the Government of Ghana and the International Fund for Agriculture Development to support Rural and Agriculture Finance Programme (RAFIP) in the country.
